The Ferrari 488 Challenge has a successor! Introduced
in 2016, it was the most powerful Challenge in the marque's history. Developing
no less than 670 bhp, it was equipped with the renowned 3.9 V8 derived from the
Ferrari 488 GTB, which won the International Engine of the Year award in 2016.
Today, it's not a page that's being turned, but rather
a new one that's being written with the Ferrari 296 Challenge. Revealed on
Thursday 19 October, it is now the new 'queen' of the circuits in the 'Corse
Clienti' category. With its 700bhp V6 engine, it now holds the new power record
in the 'Challenge' category, surpassing its predecessor by 30bhp. The car's
aerodynamic styling is no less effective, and everything has been meticulously
studied to maximise its efficiency, generating over 870kg of downforce at
250km/h in the configuration with the rear spoiler in its maximum position. In
terms of tyres, Pirelli has developed tyres specially designed and adapted to
the Ferrari 296 Challenge, which will now be fitted with 19-inch tyres tested
for a full year on circuits.
On the eve of the Finali Mondiali, which take place at
the Mugello Circuit between 24 October and 30, Ferrari will present the 296
Challenge, the ninth model in the history of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo
Pirelli. Due to debut in the Europe and North America series in 2024 season,
the 296 Challenge introduces a slew of new features with respect to the Ferrari
488 Challenge Evo an, in certain respects, is a revolutionay design.
