Today Ferrari
officially announced the name of Scuderia Ferrari's new team and general
manager, Fred Vasseur, who will join the team on January 9.
Vasseur has
more than 25 years of racing experience, starting his career in junior formulas
and culminating in Formula 1. With his various successes, he has distinguished
himself in the quality of his training of drivers, winning the GP2 series in
2005 with Nico Rosberg and in 2006 with Lewis Hamilton.
In the 2022
Formula 1 season, he held the position of CEO and Team Principal of Sauber
Motorsport, currently Alfa Romeo F1 Team, since 2017. Prior to that, he was the
Team Principal of Renault F1 Team in 2016.
Commenting on
the appointment, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said, "We are delighted to
welcome Fred Vasseur to Ferrari as Team Principal. Throughout his career, he
has successfully combined his technical strengths as an engineer by training
with a consistent ability to bring out the best in his drivers and teams. This
approach and his leadership are what we need to drive Ferrari forward with
